Pumpkin Palooza

You owe it to yourself to “take-in” Iroquois Park’s illuminating outdoor art festival, better known as the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular.  This event lasts from October 12th to November 5th from dusk to 11 pm weekdays and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays in Louisville’s south end.

As unbelievable as it seems, there are over 5,000 carved fluorescent pumpkins created by local artists that line a quarter of a mile of the walking trail in the park.  The trail has themed scenes and music to coincide.  As suggested by the title, it is truly spectacular.

Iroquois Park hosts this event, rain or shine, with proceeds benefiting the Louisville Metro Parks Foundation.  Sunday thru Thursdays, Adults are $12 and Seniors (62 & older) are $10.  Children ages 3 to 12 are $9 with those younger than 3 free of charge.  On Fridays the price goes up a bit with Adults being $15, Seniors $13, and $12 for Children.  On Saturdays the cost for Adults is $16, Seniors $13 and Children $12.

Adults and children alike will enjoy this brilliant display of art.  Iroquois Park is located at 5216 New Cut Road, 40214 (at Southern Parkway).  Parking is available in the Iroquois Amphitheater parking lot and along Rundill Road, as well as other areas of the park.
